So unless I'm missing a strategy that saves me space on military buildings by using Alcatraz I'm not really too enthusiastic about building it.I have created a tool that allows you to search for Great Buildings based on parameters that you set, giving you the ability to search the GB tables for those that might have easy rewards. If Alcatraz can't replace the military buildings I have than it can't save me space, quite the opposite - it eats it up for no meaningful gain as far as I'm concerned, since I don't need any more units.Īs for happiness - I'm good on that, and if I need more I'll over level Hagia Sophia - may take more FP but in the end it will give me FP back - win/win as far as I'm concerned.Īlcatraz just takes up enormous amount of space, I understand that it may be worth it for people who do a lot of fighting and use a lot of rogues, but I do very little of both - when I do fight I prefer to go rogue free - rogues need to be hit to even become something useful, when a good line up of ranged units can take down most enemies without more than one of them getting mildly damaged. What I do loose is more than replenished with the unattached units GE give. Do I need MORE units?įighting is already a breeze - I only do 2 GE maps with military and hardly even loose a unit. Yep and Alcatraz will give me MORE units of the type I already have. Of course, eventually you might need to again return the RogueHides to city, so you've burned a Store Building, for what?Īlcatraz is not all it's cracked up to be. Keep your Rogue Hides in city and continue to produce God knows how many Rogues, or use your Store Buildings to return them to inventory, so Alcatraz can produce some real units. And, in the course of GuildEx, or PvP, ever run short of the Real Guys for attack? Try placing defending troops in a conquered GvG. What happens now, is that those w/5 or more RogueHIdes in their city have an Alcatraz that produces Rogues (good enough, as far as it goes), but little if any Real Guys which, we now see, are just as important. This goes way back to the dawn of Forge Time when Alcatraz was first introduced, and Rogues were definitely the Combat Unit de Riguerer. While it can produce units from any building in your city (road connected or not), the preference is given to Rogues.
